Platelet Rich Plasma Injections for Hair Loss

Before spending money on over-the-counter hair re-growth treatments or considering hair transplant surgery, consider safe and effective PRP injections to stimulate natural hair growth. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections are a new, advanced technique to treat alopecia, hair loss, and hair thinning.

PRP treatments use the patient's purified blood plasma enriched with platelets and several different growth factors that help naturally stimulate hair growth when applied to the scalp. At Line Plastic Surgery, safe and effective PRP injections for hair loss are performed to help patients fight hair loss or hair thinning without surgery. Plastic Surgeon Dr. Charles Hsu oversees noninvasive PRP treatments at his office that help his patients re-gain both hair and confidence.

PRP injections are a great noninvasive, natural alternative to Rogaine and hair transplant surgery. Numbing cream is applied to the scalp prior to PRP injections to reduce discomfort and minimize pain. The Nurse Practitioner will draw a small amount of blood and after the PRP is prepared, the platelet injections will be applied to the scalp in areas of the hair that are thinning or bald.

After the procedure, the scalp may feel tender for 1 – 3 days, so it is best to refrain from any sun exposure or exercise to avoid profuse sweating in the area treated. Patients should rinse their hair with water only for the first six days then resume their normal shampoo and conditioner regimen. Patients usually see results about 4 weeks post-treatment. At least five treatment sessions spaced 1 – 2 months apart are usually recommended to achieve the best outcome.
